Conference in Stockholm

Last week I attended the annual INUG conference in Stockholm. We arrived late Wednesday and went out for an excellent meal at the Texas Longhorn and got a Bigass steak - yep it said BIGASS steak on the menu - and it was a bigass steak weighing in @ 500 g. We were tempted by Sitting Bull @ 1 kg though...
Thursday was the first day of the actual conference, and in the evening we went out to see Saturday Night Fever show @ Oscarsteatern. Afterwards we went to the Casino and had an excellent time there. Friday was the second and last day of the conference, and I must admit to being somewhat tired :-)

The Half-Blood Prince

I finally finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last night, not that it was an onerous chore to read it, quite the contrary. It was very well-written like the rest of the HP-books. I enjoyed it immensely and it was packed with entertainment and quite a few surprises as well. I can recommend it.

Best & Fairest

Last night we had our Best & Fairest Presentation Dinner. Congratulation to Tue for winning the Best & Fairest Award. A lot of other awards were given, but they should all appear on the Barracudas website soon. It was a good night with speeches, excellent food at Doktor's, and lots of beer and drinks. Eventually we were kicked out around 4 a.m. when Imdad closed the place.

Also congratulations to Farum Cats on winning the Grand Final.

Worst season ever

The Barracudas have made it to the finals every season since 1996 and the Grand Final every season since 1999, which means that in all the years I've played for the club, we've been in the Grand Final. This year, however, was different. All through the season there has been a low turnout at training and problems finding players for weekend matches. So I guess it was coming, but it is still a disappointment to not make the finals. All in all it has been a disappointing footy year with the trip with the national team to Australia cancelled and not making the playoffs. We did, however, win the local league, and managed to recruit a couple of new players.
