Flag in Exile – David Weber

Good book, although I ground to a halt in the middle and it took me a while to get back to reading. Usually I can’t put the books down, but udacity has taken up some of my time lately. I had been a bit disappointed about the lack of ship-to-ship combat in the book, but Weber managed to fill that need as well. The political intrigue that takes up more and more space in the series is by no means dull though, so enjoying that 🙂

Just began reading the next one…

Zero Day – David Baldacci

I was actually looking for Zero Day by Mark Russinovich, and I knew a little about how that book was supposed to start, so I was a bit surprised when it didn’t 🙂 This Zero Day was luckily also a great book. A special military agent is sent to investigate the murder of a military officer and stumbles upon a conspiracy.

Field of Dishonor – David Weber

No 4 in the series done. Definitely a good read, although there was a lack of space battles. This book focuses on one of Honor’s old enemies, and it is a killer! Enjoy 🙂

… on to no 5.

The Short Victorious War – David Weber

Yes, another great book in the series! Lots of drama and character building, great action, and even some romance. Of course, Honor is a true hero, and acts accordingly. No 4 is next on the reading list.

The Honor of the Queen – David Weber

Great follow-up to the first book! Supreme character building and excellent plot. Can definitely recommend it. I had heard it had a gut wrenching, tear producing ending, so I expected Nimitz to be stabbed to death by Yu or something similar, but didn’t happen. Not a bad ending though. Looking forward to #3 🙂

Owner’s Share – Nathan Lowell

Ah, another installment in the Solar Clipper saga. Ishmael Wang goes indie and that of course brings all sorts of new adventures and aspects of life to consider. Ishmael is still a perfect goody two shoes, but the story is not as sweet as previous ones. All in all a good listen/read. A don’t think there will be more in the series, but the author’s home page does list a new book set in the deep dark. Should be worth a read.

On Basilisk Station – David Weber

A great book by David Weber! And fortunately there are lots in the series 🙂 Weber really knows how to portray characters, build up suspension, and create a good plot. One more read-through by the editor would have eliminated the last couple of glitches. Also the first book I read on a tablet, which I must say worked fine. Looking forward to the next one in the series.

The Wheel of Time – Robert Jordan

Finally got around to this fantasy classic. Really liked the first book, but there are so many more in the series – could of course be a good thing 🙂 Interesting to see whether the story can keep up the pace.

Followed Rand al’Thor and his two friends Matrim and Perrin through the realm with their strange and interesting escorts. Classic save the world theme, but liked the execution. Focus on country boys meeting the strange foreign world. Looking forward to number two book.

The Starter – Scott Sigler

Excellent sequel by Sigler. Great to follow 2(QB) – quarterback Quentin Barnes – through his first season in the GFL. Lots of good story stuff and some excellent grid-iron action! Some of the fun banter between the commentators has disappeard, but I guess Sigler is aiming for a little more mainstream audience.

Ender in Exile – Orson Scott Card

Another great book by Orson Scott Card. It fills some important gaps and ties some knots to loose endings in the Ender story, and a good book in its own right. I think I have read all the books in the series now – so on to the short stories from here 🙂
